Amblecote Holy Trinity Scout Group

Group Profile and Information

Amblecote Scout Group was started in about 1911 when a patrol of scouts calling themselves the Lion Patrol met at the site of Thomas Webb Glassworks. More accurate history begins in 1915 when the Reverend HM Crabbe registered Amblecote Holy Trinity as an official Scout group.

At this early stage the group was very much a church organized one, and under careful leadership a fund was started to build a new headquarters. When the original £50 target was reached and passed, it was decided to go on to the £80 mark, enabling a larger 60 ft x 20ft building to be built.

In the late 1950s it was decided to move once again, away from the church and on to a piece of land purchased on School Drive, where the present day hut still stands. Through a very active and successful fund raising period, a new hut was constructed.

The group flourished under the long-term organisation of a few dedicated leaders, and in recent years has seen popular trips to Holland in 1986 and 1990. Annually the group achieves very well in all sections, the Venture unit typically producing at least one Queen's Scout.
